Aging and genetic predisposition can cause the skin of the eyelids to become droopy and heavy, and fat protrusions can result in eyelid bulging and a tired appearance. These physical changes can produce anxiety and actual visual impairment.

Blepharoplasty of the eyelids can correct some of these deformities. The surgery is done in the office and under local with sedation and only takes 1-2 hours depending on whether 2 or 4 lids are done. The recovery is remarkably pain-free but there is often noticeable bruising. Therefore, we recommend a week out of the public unless you don’t mind wearing dark glasses, in which case 24 hours of recovery is all you need. Sutures are removed 4 days later.
